Wynn Las Vegas opened in 2005 to a fanfare of publicity. Built at a cost of US$2.7 billion the Wynn resort, featuring the Wynn Las Vegas hotel and its more recent sister hotel, Encore at the Wynn, was the largest privately-funded construction project in the US.
