Located on the east side of the emerald-green MGM Grand, behind a manned security gate, this is MGM's newest endeavor, a residential-style complex comprised of two (soon to be three) 38-story towers connected to the MGM Grand by an enclosed people-mover.
Although it is not as extravagant as the neighboring Skylofts or the latter is located at the Mandalay Bay this hotel-within-a-hotel offers a more personal environment, and the studios and one and two-bedroom suites proffer kitchens that, while not suitable for cooking a Thanksgiving turkey dinner, provide ample appliances to whip up eggs benedict and a cup of coffee. Frugal guests quickly discover that by staying put in their rooms and making a mere dozen cups of coffee instead of heading down to the Starbucks off the lobby, they will save nearly half the room rate for a Jr. Suite (studio).
Each of the accommodations towers provides its own lobby, concierge and valets. The decor in the lobbies is conservative-contemporary, with earth-tone fabrics dressing up elegant showroom furnishings. High ceilings, large windows and colorful large-scale art further add to the residential appeal. There is no restaurant, but a delicatessen and a bar provide the important food groups. Guests here have signing privileges at all of MGM's restaurants.
